Dean H. Fuller aged 67 passed away in Mesa, Arizona on December 14, 2022.

He is leaving behind his sister Sharon Vincent and his brother Daryl Fuller as well as his surviving children Chad, Jason, Michael, and Dixie Fuller.

He was a truck driver for 48 years. He had a love for World War II airplanes, ships and Westerns. He loved to see the country and shared his memories with his family. He was a selfless man willing to help anyone in need.

Peter Louis Peterson II was born February 16, 1940, in Mesa, Arizona, beginning the fourth generation of Petersons in Mesa. He was thrilled to have been able to live in Mesa his entire life.

As a child, Peter spent summers in the White Mountains fishing and worked alongside his father George L. Peterson as he drilled and maintained the water wells in Mesa. Maybe it was there he gained his love for civil engineering. He graduated from Mesa High School in 1958, where he was a member of the track team and loved high jumping.

Peter served a 2½ year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Stockholm, Sweden, from May 1962 thru Nov 1964. Shortly thereafter he met the love of his life, Dana Louise Blattner, at a church fireside, and they were engaged just two weeks later. Love at first sight! They married on August 6, 1965, in the Mesa, Arizona Temple.

Peter studied Civil Engineering at Arizona State University in Tempe, as his alma mater, ASU was ever dear to his heart. After graduating from ASU, he worked as the City of Mesa Engineer for many years, and later joined the firm Standage & Truitt Engineering as a partner.

Peter and his wife Dana served a 17 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as co-directors of Camp LoMia in Pine, Arizona, a regional calling. While serving, he oversaw all the engineering needs of the camp, from a new water treatment system to maintenance on the lodge, main camp, and the surrounding camps. Other callings included Elders Quorum Counselor and High Priests Group Leader. He was always available for teaching the surveying merit badge and preparing amazing dutch oven breakfasts for fathers-n-sons outings.

Some of Dad’s favorite activities, outside of family reunions at Camp LoMia, would be ASU Football games (of which he was a multi-decades-long season ticket holder), camping, attending his children’s sports events, bowling, and playing handball. Dad enjoyed family history and loved working on his own personal history.

Peter Louis Peterson II died peacefully of natural causes at his home in Mesa, Arizona, on December 13, 2022, at the age of 82.

Peter is the oldest of four children born to George L. Peterson and Margaret L. Perry. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Paul Peterson and his sister Jeanne Rhoden. Peter is survived by his sister Linda Bergeson, his wife Dana L. Blattner Peterson, and their five children; Jennifer L. (Arlen) Card, Bradley D. (Julie) Peterson, Jana K. (Kurt) Gunnell, Peter L. (Angela) Peterson III, and Gregory W. (Tricia) Peterson, and 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved him dearly.

Peter’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 20, at the chapel on 1852 N. Stapley Dr., Mesa, Arizona. There will be a public viewing from 11:00am – 11:45 followed by a funeral at 12:00 noon. Burial will be directly after at the City of Mesa Cemetery.

Patricia Gail Pickrel passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2022 in Mesa, Arizona. She was the third child born to Joseph Roscoe & Rhoda Gail Montgomery in Mesa Arizona in 1938. She is preceded in death by both parents, a brother, Joseph Edmund Montgomery, a sister, Sue Marie Wollett, a grandson, Braydon Adair Pickrel, and a great-grandson, Eldon Adair Pickrel. She loved her Savior, the color red, angels, lunch dates with friends, sunflowers, pigs, a good hotdog and Christmas decorations. Her posterity is her most prized possession. She leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Michael Lee Pickrel, her son, Randy (Sheri) Pickrel, grand-daughter Shohni (Travis) Christensen, grand-son, Braylon (Danielle) Pickrel, grand-daughter, Sheli Bennett, grand-son, Brendon (Jessica) Pickrel with 10 great-grandchildren, Kamdyn Christensen, Decklan Pickrel, Brooklyn Christensen, Kailyn Christensen, Ellerie Pickrel, Kaysen Christensen, Brigdyn Christensen, Leland Pickrel, Blake Bennett and Parker Pickrel. Kathleen Barton, 70, passed away December 1, 2022 in San Diego, California, encompassed by her loving family.

Kathleen married the love of her life Richard Gilbert Barton, Jr in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 10, 1972 and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. A storybook romance of the beautiful high school cheerleader marrying the handsome local football star led to nearly 50 years of wonderful moments with her husband and growing family.

Born August 28, 1952 in Murray, Utah as the youngest child of William Burgess Sr. and Vera White, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Rick (2018), brother William Burgess Jr (Fay), sister Joyce (Ray) and daughter Camille Barton Hugill (2020). She is survived by her brother Dr. Gordon V. White and leaves behind 4 children: Dr. Brandon (Kameron), Tyler (Rochelle), Megan, Josh (Dianna) as well as 11 grandchildren who she enjoyed teaching and spoiling more than anything in her life.

Kathleen graduated from Murray High School in 1970 and briefly attended both Brigham Young University and the University of Utah before starting her role as a full-time homemaker in their new home (built by Rick himself) on Stonemoor Circle in Holladay, Utah.  A “mother extraordinaire” to her five children, she would always go the extra mile to make sure every need was met, every gift obtained, and every event was attended. Her influence and mentorship as a mother figure extended to numerous relatives, friends and friends of her children, who marveled in her ability to treat everyone with generous respect, ample nourishment, and unconditional love. She was beloved by everyone in her large extended family for her unfailing kindness, fashionable style, exemplary cooking, and attention to the good qualities of each person with whom she came into contact.

While she traveled the United States and the world with her family, enjoyed the sites of Europe, danced at night in Spain, and relaxed in the beauties of Mauritius, her life’s greatest joys were spent in countless hours of reading to and nurturing her 11 grandchildren and decorating her home in preparation for the next holiday. Any holiday was reason enough to gather and express her love with a thoughtful gift to all, making sure each person felt seen and loved every time in the way only she could. Each holiday was celebrated to the max, with a revolving collection of seasonal decorations and family traditions.

Despite suffering many losses and health problems in recent years, she endured her journey well with a faithful and happy disposition, always comforting others and sacrificing her own needs ahead of those of her family. She was a devoted friend, confidant, and warm presence that cannot be replicated for the many people she influenced. Her memory and example will eternally be an inspiration and guide.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 16 at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Freestone Park Ward, 230 N Val Vista Drive, Gilbert Arizona, 85234. Friends and family are welcome to attend a viewing the same morning 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the services.

Interment will be at San Tan Memorial Gardens at Schnepf Farms following the morning service.

Wallace (Wally) Niklaus, age 86, passed away peacefully December 5, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Wally was born in Merrill, Wisconsin and grew up in Wisconsin Rapids. After graduating from high school, he joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged after four years active duty and four years of reserves.

Wally worked in the airline industry for North Central Airlines, Republic Airlines and Northwest Airlines. He retired from the airlines after 42 years and completed his career as the Chief Dispatcher. Wally loved his years there and built many long-term friendships along the way while residing in Wisconsin, Illinois and Eagan, Burnsville and Rosemount Minnesota.

Wally enjoyed volunteering in many ways throughout his life including coaching his daughter’s softball and basketball teams for many seasons. His spiritual life was important to him, and Wally served in various positions at Christ Lutheran Church in Eagan. During one period he volunteered to update the outdoor church sign, whenever Wally traveled and saw other churches’ creative sign, he would stop to take a picture of it for future reference.

After retiring, Wally volunteered at the Northwest Airlines Retiree Call Center and enjoyed assisting other retirees. Wally found another passion when he began volunteering at the Minnesota Zoo. He always had a love of animals but being able to assist visitors, direct traffic (usually school buses), teach others about the animals and use his sign language skills to communicate with visitors made every volunteer session extra rewarding. Wally loved his years at the zoo and fell in love with penguins and dolphins.

During his free time, Wally enjoyed doing genealogy research, traveling to Arizona for the winters and calling weekly Bingo, taking cruises (his favorite was a trip through the Panama Canal), and he never met a polka that he did not enjoy dancing around the dance floor with his wife.

Wally was loved by many, and they will remember him for his sense of humor, his faith and his caring attitude for those around him.

Wally is preceded in death by his daughter Corrine, his parents Frank and Evelyn Niklaus and his in-laws, William and Myrtle Koch. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, JoAnn (Koch) and his children Barry (Karmen) Niklaus and Dianne (Christopher) McSweeney; also, by other loving family and friends. Military Funeral Honors will occur at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ on January 18, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Minnesota Zoo or Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, who provided a peaceful, comfortable experience for him would be appreciated.

Beverly June Turley 72, died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday December 1, 2022

While her family and friends are shocked by her death, they are thankful for her life. Bev  was a spunky soul who relished the simple pleasures of life. She loved crafting, decorating, and spending all the time she could with her grandkids. Beverly also loved late night talks  over ice cream, SONIC ice.  She valued the time that she spent with her family and friends. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in all that she did. You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she lived!! Beverly is survived by her daughter Heather Kay Green, daughter TeriAnne Egan , daughter Sharon Petersen, daughter Yvette Johnson. Son Sean Michael Green, son Hartley Turley. As well as Grandsons Rylle Pratt Peterson, Tanner Keith Peterson, Myles Green, Mac Green, Cameron Turley, Joseph Turley, Mat Petersen, Casey Petersen, Andrew Petersen, Jeremy Petersen, Nick DeJesus, Benjamin DeJesus, Logan DeJesus, Jacob DeJesus, Caleb DeJesus. Shirley Fay Mackey Martindale, 88 passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2022.  She was born October 20, 1934 in Emmett Idaho, the daughter of Burton and Erma Dayley Mackey.  She grew up in Burley, Idaho and in 1955 married Joseph Donel (Don) Martindale in the Idaho Falls temple. They moved to Provo, Utah where Don finished his degree at BYU and they started their lives together.  They had 6 children while living in Orem. In 1966 they moved to Tempe, Arizona and the following year twin girls were born, completing their family.  In 1997 when their children were all grown, they moved to Mesa, sharing a back fence with their daughter, Marie’s family.

Shirley was an angel with a loving heart for all, especially children.  She devoted her life to her family, homemaking and serving others.  Her grandchildren looked forward to birthdays with special one-on-one time with Grandma.  She loved gardening, composting and tending to her flowers, creating bouquets to share with neighbors. She always had a song in her heart and was often heard singing as she attended to her children and home. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving wherever called.

Shirley is survived by her husband and her 8 children: Alan (Marla Martindale), Kent (Estrella Martindale), Marie (Craig Tate), Kalene (Tom Sims), Brenda (Carl Gwilliam), LeAnn (Larry Ruettinger), Denise (Mark Bohn), Darla (Tere Lemieux), 40 grandchildren, 99 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by three sisters Kerry Thompson, Nola Hancey, and Linda Blake.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am at the LDS Chapel at 2618 N. Lindsay Road, Mesa, AZ 85213. The funeral will follow at 11:00 am.  Shirley will be interred in the Mesa City Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Bunker’s Mortuary.

Steven Laurence Stapley passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at his home in Tempe, Arizona, surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old.

Steve was born on March 4, 1936, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Orley Glenn Stapley and Estella Vance. Steve was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend. Steve was a man of faith who loved his Savior and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Steve served in many callings over the years, including: Spanish Branch President, Elder’s Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader and Home Teacher. At age 19, Steve served a mission in Uruguay, South America, representing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later in life, Steve, along with his wife Patty, would serve three more church missions: Argentina Buenos Aires North Mission (June 1995-January 1997), Colombia Bogota Temple Mission (April 5, 1999-May 2000)/Bolivia Cochabamba Temple (May 2000-October 2000), and Nauvoo Illinois Temple Mission (April 2009-November 2009).

Steve was retired from American Savings Life Insurance Company, where he served as Executive Administrator and Board Member. Steve was also a veteran of the US Army. He lived a life of service to others and blessed the lives of many in his church and community. One of Steve’s greatest joys came from spending time with his family, whom he loved very much.

Steve is survived by: his wife of 63 years, Patricia Jo Allen; 7 children: Christopher Stapley (Wendy Porter), Kregg Stapley (Jodi Larson), Keith Stapley (Judi Goodwin), Kent Stapley (Jennifer Snow), Kathleen Stapley Gherkins (Tim Gherkins), Kirk Stapley (JoyAnn Rudd), and Klae Stapley; 34 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Steve will be dearly missed, but we know that we will see him again.

Steve’s funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Tempe South Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1111 E. Knox Road in Tempe, Arizona. There will be a viewing before the service at 9:00 A.M. at the same location. Steve will be interred at the Mesa City Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona.

Edward Billy King, 74, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Edward was born on May 15, 1948, in Courtland, Alabama to the late Billie King and Cherry Davis. At a young age, Edward moved with his family to Twinsburg, Ohio. While in Twinsburg, Edward met and married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Bobby. Edward and Bobby were married for 50 years.

Edward was the true embodiment of Faith, Family, Fun, and Football! Edward loved the Lord with his whole heart and was committed to serving him the best he could. While in Ohio and Arizona, Edward served the Lord in church assemblies, always dressed to the nines. Edward loved his family and spent many hours a day talking to his family about sports, current events, life happenings, and anything or nothing at all. Edward loved to laugh and was loved by many because he knew no stranger. Edward had the uncanny ability to invite anyone into his life and make them feel comfortable by just laughing and enjoying life. Edward loved football and nearly every Ohio sports team. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavs, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife Bobby, his parents Billie King, Cherry Davis, and Louise King-Hetrick, his grandparents William and Ella White, and his sisters Fannie Williams, Jessie King, and Mary King. Edward will be dearly missed, and leaves to cherish his memory his children, grandchildren, great grandson, brothers and sisters, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. K LaMoyne Bailey, age 81, passed away on November 26, 2022, at his home in Florence, Arizona with his wife and daughters by his side, after a mighty and courageous health battle. K was born on December 27, 1940, in Burley, Idaho to Wallace and June Shaw. He spent his early years living in Declo, Idaho before moving to Othello, Washington during his high school years. K graduated in 1958 from Othello High School where he played football and basketball. K married his high school sweetheart, Lynda Haws, on June 10th, 1959 in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. K went on to get his Bachelor’s of Science from Utah State University in Agricultural Education, and later earned his Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics. K was a highly respected educator, farmer, dairy farmer, and cattleman.

He had a passion for sports, farming, teaching, and horses. K was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many positions throughout his life, and was especially revered as a Gospel Doctrine teacher. He and Lynda are the parents to eight children who brought him much joy: David, Bonnie, Bryan, Craig, Clint, Katie, Alice, and Mindy.

K is survived by his wife: Lynda Haws Bailey, his children: David (Jen) Bailey, Bonnie (Keith) Bergeson, Bryan (Kristie) Bailey, Craig (Robin) Bailey, Katie Bailey, Alice (David) Matayoshi, and Mindy Rivers, and his sister Lottie Hurst. Additionally, K is survived by a large extended family of many nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws. He is the grandfather to 30 grandchildren and is the great-grandfather to 22, with 3 on the way. K is preceded in death by his son, Clint Russell Bailey; son-in-law, Daniel Rivers; grandson, Damian Bailey; parents, Wallace and June Bailey; mother and father-in-law, Lois and Russell Haws; and brother-in-laws, Earl Hurst, Milan Haws, and Darrell Adams.

A funeral will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1521 East Bella Vista Road, San Tan Valley, AZ, on Saturday, December 10th, at 12:00pm. Friends and family are invited. Immediately following the funeral, there will be a graveside service at San Tan Memorial Gardens at Schnepf Farms, 22425 East Cloud Road, Queen Creek, AZ 85142. Jeffrey Warren Miller passed through the veil and into the next life unexpectedly on Friday, November 25th. Jeff is the son of Lloyd Lynn Miller and Barbara Victoria Miller and was born June 1st, 1967, at Bannock Memorial Hospital, in Pocatello, Idaho.

Jeff is preceded in death by his father, L. Lynn Miller and a foster brother, Adrian Ireland. He is survived by Anjanette Miller, his sons – Zachary, Steven, and Cade Miller, his mother – Barbara Miller, and his brothers – Jason (Natasha) Miller and Jerod (Stephanie) Miller.

Jeff had many passions and was a deeply driven individual. This is evident in his many accomplishments over the years. As a youth, Jeff loved the Scouting program and attended the National Jamboree, playing trombone in the jamboree band at age 14. He then earned his Eagle Merit Badge at 15 years old. He graduated from Highland High School in 1985 and played on the State Champion Football Team. After graduation, he served in the New York, New York City Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. One of his greatest accomplishments is starting his family with Anjie. Jeff and Anjie were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 28, 1992.

Jeff did well in his professional career and had an entrepreneurial spirit with many successful ventures over the years, including a successful commercial real-estate career in the Las Vegas/Saint George area.

He also loved sports, nice cars, the outdoors, wildlife and the finer things in life, but most of all he loved his family. Jeff adored his wife and loved his sons as much, if not more. He was a very hard worker and did his best to provide well for them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Information- Viewing at 9:00 AM and Memorial Service at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 10th. Luncheon to follow service.

Mary Ann Holt Wilkins, born on March 18th, 1941, passed away peacefully at her home with family members by her side, on November 27, 2022, in Mesa, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her son Alan Royce Wilkins, Jr. and the father of her children Alan Royce Wilkins, Sr.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Darrin Wilkins (Annette-deceased), Angie Clouse-Nielson (Scott deceased, Darin), Steven Wilkins, Lisa Eames (Todd), Jon Wilkins (Katie), Ryan Wilkins (Mindi), Randon Wilkins (Annie), and Cara Nelson (Jake). She has 29 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann was born in Taylor, Arizona and spent most of her life living in Mesa, Arizona. She attended Mesa Junior High and was a graduate of Mesa High School in 1959. She was a beautiful mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She lived a long-life serving others and loving her family. Her witty sense of humor and acceptance of whatever life brought her, got her through many years of her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located on 532 S. Greenfield Road, Mesa, Arizona 85206, with a viewing at the church at 10:00 am prior to the services. Interment will be at the Mesa Cemetery, Mesa, Arizona.

Stephen Cowgur, 73 passed away on November 22, 2022 in Mesa Arizona. Steve grew up on a dairy farm in Mesa, and spent his career as the owner of a successful Dairy Queen organization. He loved to travel and spoke excellent Swedish. Steve spent most of his leisure time riding his bike, playing tennis, and driving his sports cars. He served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in many capacities, including Bishop and two missions to Sweden. He had an incredible spirit of generosity, and was free with his time, knowledge, and resources.

He and Margaret just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his children Marie, Carl, Greg, Sharon, Ellen, Wayne, and 17 grandchildren.

Randall Cottle Stringfellow, 64, passed away on November 25, 2022 in Chandler, Arizona. Randy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and grew to age 10 in Bountiful, Utah. At that time his family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. Randy graduated from Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. He Served an LDS Mission to Toronto, Canada from 1977 to 1979. Upon returning from his mission Randy attended Brigham Young University and Mesa Community College. Randy was a member of the Scottsdale Police Department and Retired. Randy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Elden and Marilyn Stringfellow. His surviving siblings are Dennis Stringfellow (Kathleen), Sherida Cluff (Dale) and Loreen Shumway.

Randy was a loved brother and will be missed by his family members and friends. We have faith that he is in good hands.
