Robert L. Tanner passed at age 91. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Amanda Tanner of Rensselaer, IN. He is survived by his siblings Lois, Mable, Martha, Betty and Walter. He celebrated his life for 65 years with his wife Olene. He is also survived by three daughters Sue Wilbur, Sherri Tate, Bobbi Galyean. Memorial services will be held at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ, Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 2:30 pm. Donations may be made to Hospice Family Care in his memory.

Gloria Catherine Busch

Busch, Gloria Catherine

79, of Mesa, AZ, passed away June 16, 2011. She was born on July 15, 1931 on her family’s dairy farm near Seymour, Wisconsin. Gloria married Edward Weber in 1951, who preceded her in death in 1954; they had two sons. In 1955, Gloria married Francis Busch and moved to North Dakota to farm and raised 8 children. They retired to Mesa in 1981; Francis passed away in 1993. Gloria was very active in her community and church, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Gloria is survived by her 8 children, 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 6 siblings. A rosary memorial will be held June 22 from 5-7 p.m. at Bunker Family Funerals, 3529 E. University, Mesa. Her funeral service is June 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 2213 N. Lindsay Rd., Mesa. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Obituary

Mildred Larson passed away June 15, 2011. Born January 11, 1919 in Negley, Ohio, Millie was the seventh of eight children born to Ira and Elfie Huston. In 1938, she married Chester Harding who predeceased her in 1959. She is survived by her three children: Larry Harding of Leetonia, Ohio; Janet (Ernie) Keslar of East Palestine, Ohio; Pat (Dan) Toomey of Scottsdale, Arizona; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In Columbiana she worked at Wells’ Drug Store, and served as Eastern Star Worthy Matron of Chapter 428. She was a member of United Methodist churches in New Waterford and Columbiana, OH, and Mesa, AZ.

In 1980, Mildred moved to Arizona. She married Barney Larson who passed away in 1991. Visitation will be at 10 am followed by a service at 11 on Thursday June 30, 2011, at Bunker Family Chapel, 3529 E. University Dr. Mesa, Arizona 85213.

Paul R. Ishikawa

Paul R. Ishikawa was born in Florin, California on March 16, 1914 and passed away on June 14, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 97. Paul farmed in the Lehi area of Mesa for several decades, harvesting a wide variety of fruit and vegetables, including the sweetest oranges ever grown in Arizona. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sally Sueko, his parents and seven siblings. Paul is survived by his five children, Sharon (George), Paul Jr., Brian (Nancy), Mark (Iris) and John (Sadie). He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren, Tonya (Dave), Tara (Augusto), Kelly (Nicki), Michele, Megan, Ryan, Lindsey, Chelsea, Matt, Nick and Trey. In addition, Paul leaves five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Sam, Tyler, Caleb and Finn, and numerous nieces and nephews. The Ishikawa family is deeply indebted to Jade Hart, Paul’s devoted and loving caregiver these past several years. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2011 from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ. Services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., also at Bunker’s Garden Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656.

Jerry Duke Morris

Jerry Duke Morris was born to Duke and Olive Morris on December 13, 1942 in Morenci, Arizona, and passed away in Mesa, Arizona, on June 12, 2011. His family moved to Mesa when he was 4 years old where he lived the rest of his life, graduating from Mesa High School in 1960. He served a mission in the Southern States from 1962-1964 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a lifelong faithful member of the church, serving as a counselor to six different bishops, a member of the Maricopa Stake High Council and Bishop of the Mesa Fourth Ward. Jerry worked for 36 ½ years at Salt River Project, retiring as Senior Relay Technician in 2004. Jerry and his wife, LaNelle Porter, served three missions together as a couple; Nauvoo, Illinois, Mesa Regional Family History Center, and Ecuador Guayaquil South. Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years, LaNelle, their children Robert (Shannon), Becky Stahlecker, Kenneth (Phoebe), Dale (Alys), James, Scott (Tracy), Jodi Jackson (Shephard), and Julie Conover (Todd), and 27 grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Earl (Sadie) and Kirk (Carla) Morris and sisters, Yvonne Morris, Paula (Bob) Macdonald and Jeanie Morris. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17th from 6 – 8 PM at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ 85201 (480-696-6883). Services will be Saturday, June 18th at 10 AM at the Maricopa Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 611 N. Stewart in Mesa with visitation at 9:00.

She attended the University of Minnesota where she studied Art. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Scottsdale Artist League, and Camelback Christian Church. Anne is survived by her children Peter (Julie) Kemp, Marilyn Sale, George (Cynthia) Bryan, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her sister, Nancy Snow, Duluth, MN. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 16, at 2:00p.m. at the Camelback Christian Church, 6235 E. Camelback Road. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to Hospice of the Valley.

Lanae Brimley Peck, 40, of Gilbert, AZ, passed away at her home surrounded by family, on Sunday, June 5, 2011. She was born on December 18, 1970 in Mesa, AZ to Ned S. Brimley and the late Arlene Evans Brimley. She was a graduate of Mesa High School in 1988 and later met and married her husband, Steven Peck while attending Eastern Arizona College. Lanae worked many jobs over her life, but none were more important to her than being a mother and wife, in these her loyalty and devotion knew no bounds. She was active in her community and Church, touching many with her love and great skill as a teacher of young children. She is survived by her husband Steven Peck, daughter Melissa Peck, son Brock Peck, her father Ned S. Brimley, sisters Kristen Ashcroft (Ben), and Jana Elcock (Sean), brothers Brian Brimley (Shelly), Spencer Brimley (Stephanie), Evan Brimley, mother-in-law Alta Peck, brother-in-law Jason Peck (Joy) and 16 nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, in Mesa from 6-8 pm Friday, June 10, 2011. Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the LDS Church at 1865 S. Higley Road, in Gilbert, with a viewing at 9 AM followed by services at 10 AM. Graveside services will be held at the Pima Cemetery, in Pima, AZ at 3 PM.

Survived by sons, Craig (La Donna) Miller and Patrick (Linda) Miller, grandchildren Keith Miller, Gina Davis, Tracy Gerbino, Heidi Rhyne, Aaron Miller, Aarik Miller and Betty Stipp, Donna Higely, Christie Scott and Clint Kellogg and 16 great-grandchildren. Siblings Larry Oliver, Ron Oliver, Geraldine Bigelow, Clydene Mizer, Peggy Oliver, Cherie Hathcock and Sue Hundley. Preceded by Husband Merrill H. Miller, Grandson Harry T. Miller and Brother Craig Van Eldon Oliver. Bonnie’s life was speckled with a variety of roles including sales manager of JC Penney, modeling and several family businesses. Bonnie’s most fulfilling role was a loving mother, wife and sister. Bonnie was also a Sunday School Teacher in the LDS church for many years. She was born August 30, 1924 in Milford, IL.

And was the daughter of William and Helen Buss.

Lucille married Marvin Hehman on August 2, 1942, they were married for 49 years.

She was the proud owner of the Cinderella Beauty Salon in Bloomington, IL for many years.

She is survived by daughters Dianna Summers and Marva Gail Downen , five

grandsons, two great-granddaughters, one great-grandson and a half-sister Glenna Daugherty that lives in Bloomington, IL. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband in 1991, four brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be Monday, June 6, 2011 from 9:00-10:30a.m., at Bunker’s University Chapel, 3529 E. Elsie Mae Hollingshead Bates Tennant, age 90, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 in Howard, KS. She was born June 8, 1920 in Miami, AZ, the daughter of Clem Franklin and Stella (Edwards) Hollingshead. On August 19, 1939 Elsie was united in marriage to Ivan L. Bates in Phoenix, Arizona. He preceded her in death in June of 1972. Elsie married Roland E. Tennant in October 1975 in Mesa, Arizona and he preceded her death in December 1984. Elsie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by three sons; Ivan Bates Jr. (Rhonda) of UT, Ronald Bates of AZ, Phillip Bates (Susan) of AZ, six daughters; Sandra Suman (Robert) of UT, Bonnie Helms (Burl) of KS, Elizabeth Walker of UT, Gail Heath (Hyde) of CO, Shirley Tryk (Martin) of KS and Donna Schaub (Kenneth) of AZ, 45 grandchildren, 115 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Elsie was also preceded in death were her parents, 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Funeral services are Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10 AM preceded by a visitation at 9 AM at the LDS Ocotillo Ward, 18550 E. Surviving also are in-laws, Johnny and Victoria Ramirez of Queen Creek, grandparents Norma and Frank Gardner of Provo, Utah, and Ruth Heyman of Chandler. Many uncles, aunts, in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews also mourn his passing. Jonathan received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Arizona State University. He served an LDS a Mission to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was owner of Bella Vista Solutions, and was loved and admired by his clients for his business ethics and his care and concern for problem solving.
