Lori LaRee Roseberry Carter, 65, of Mesa, AZ passed away on Sept. 5, 2011. She was born in Safford, AZ on Oct. 6, 1945 to Earl K. and Thelma B. Roseberry. Lori married Thomas J. Carter on Apr. 9, 1964 in Pima, AZ. They had four children. She was a homemaker who loved and cared for her family. Lori enjoyed her grandchildren and the happiness that they brought into her life. Because of her kindness, she had many good friends. Throughout her life, she held many church positions. She liked watching old movies, looking at antiques, and all things related to Christmas. Her family loves her and misses her immensely. She is survived by husband Thomas, daughter Shari, son and daughter-in-law Philip and Valynn, son Michael, and son Joshua, grandchildren Jared, Mabel, and Jaimee, brother Jerry Roseberry, and sisters Cleora Price, Joann Emerson, and LaRue Woods. Visitation will be held at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa on Fri., Sept. 16 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church, 616 S. Extension Rd, Mesa on Sat., Sept. 17 at 10 AM, preceded by a visitation at 9 AM.

Mary Lou Chapman

Mary Lou Chapman, 82 years young, passed on September 3, 2011. She was born December 29, 1928 in Holly, Michigan and married Vance Chapman in 1947. The family moved to Arizona in 1959. Mary Lou is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Vance Sr., daughter Sandra (David) Moody, son Vance Jr.(Rebecca), 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mary Lou was soft spoken and generous to all who knew and loved her. Graveside services are Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 10 AM at the City of Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N. Center St. in Mesa. In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice of the Valley are suggested, www.hov.org/donations. Arrangements by Bunker’s Garden Chapel.

Mildred Cluff Kerby

Mildred Cluff Kerby, 92, of Gilbert, AZ passed away Thursday, September 08, 2011. She was born April 5, 1919 in Gilbert, AZ to Vernon Howard and Pearl Allen Cluff. The family moved to Pima, AZ when she was three where she attended school and graduated from Eastern AZ College. She worked for Mountain Bell as a switchboard operator and lived in Tucson, AZ until 1946. On February 19, 1947 she married Jesse Ray Kerby in Pima, AZ. They moved to Hayden, AZ where two daughters were born. They transferred to Phoenix, AZ with the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1951 where three more daughters were born. Mildred served in many leadership capacities of the LDS church. She was an excellent teacher and a leader in both Ward and Stake positions in family history, Young Women, Primary, and Relief Society. Mildred was talented in many areas including having a beautiful alto singing voice, cake decorating, pianist, sewing, crochet, quilting, and gardening. She and Ray served a mission for the church in Kodiak, Alaska. They moved to Gilbert, AZ in 1981 and served as Mesa Temple workers. She loved to serve and touched many lives and was a great example of a Christ-like life. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Jesse Ray Kerby, her five daughters, Barbara Ann Whitmer (John), Genevieve Kovacs (Tony), Shirley Rae Goodman (Benny), Lynette Stansbury (Jerry), and Debbie Jean Goodman (Randy), 30 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and siblings Cleora Colvin, Clea Beach (Roy), and Gale Cluff (Karen). Viewing will be Wed., September 14, 6-8 pm at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 10 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lindsay Ward Building, 1150 N. Lindsay Rd., Gilbert, AZ with visitation at 9AM. Interment will take place at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the LDS missionary fund.

Amanda Michelle McCleve

Amanda Michelle McCleve was born on May 10, 1980 in Mesa, Arizona. Amanda is the daughter of Victor and Julia McCleve long time residents of Gilbert. In addition to her parents, Amanda will always be loved by her sister Elizabeth Jobe and Justin Jobe, her brother William and Erin McCleve, and her sister Ashley McCleve, all from Gilbert. She was a favorite aunt to Madison Jobe, Steel Jobe, Navie Jobe, Madeline McCleve, Bric Jobe, Cole McCleve and Dane McCleve, all also from Gilbert. Amanda will always be remembered and loved by many aunts, uncles and cousins from Arizona, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Amanda was engaged to Nathan Hughes, son of Tim and Rachel Hughes, also from Gilbert. Amanda attended Gilbert Schools from kindergarten on and graduated from Highland High School in 1995. Amanda began her higher education at Chandler Gilbert Community College, transferred to UVSC in Provo, Utah, and eventually returned to Flagstaff, graduating from NAU with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, with a minor in Spanish. Amanda’s most enjoyable education opportunity was spending a year in Heredia, Costa Rica, attending a Spanish immersion program. After graduation, Amanda began working for the Flagstaff School District working with severely handicapped middle school children in the TIA program, a job that she loved and enjoyed. Amanda’s greatest joy was travelling and has travelled literally all over the world from Dubai and UAE, Europe, and all of Central America, but she was just as happy with a trip to Disneyland with her family. Her joy and love of life was contagious and is evidenced by the friends who have expressed how much she will be missed. The will be a Visitation Evening with the family at the Maplewood Ward building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located on Greenfield Road just south of Pecos Road on Sunday, September 11th from 6:00 to 8:00pm and the Funeral Services will be held at the same chapel on Monday morning at 10:00 am. Interment will be held immediately following at the City of Mesa Cemetery. Arrangements by Bunker’s Garden Chapel.

Doris Ruth Coultas Mellen, a long time resident of Sierra Vista, Arizona passed away September 5, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona peacefully at the age of 88. Doris was born in Darby Montana September 6, 1922. She loved Mexico, Sierra Vista and Montana.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard P. Mellen, her brother John W. Coultas, her father John Edwards Coultas and her mother Ruth Harriett Cummins.

She is survived by 3 sons Ken (Carla) Wildung of Vacaville, California, Tim (Ronda) Wildung of Gilbert, Arizona & Mark (Beverly) Wildung of Milltown, Montana, her brother Raul (Irma) Coultas of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, 14 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, 3 nephews John (Chris) Coultas of Tucson, Arizona and David (Nancy) Coultas of Superior, Montana, Raul Coultas of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, 1 niece Elizabeth Coultas of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, 3 grandnieces and 1 grandnephew.

Visitation at 10:30 am Saturday at the LDS chapel 234 N. Greenfield Rd., Gilbert, Arizona 85234 services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Private interment will take place at the Lone Pine Cemetery in Darby Montana.

Waldo Isaacson Rogers

Rogers, Waldo Isaacson, 83, of Mesa, AZ passed away peacefully August 30, 2011. He was born May 26, 1928 in Phoenix, AZ to David White Rogers and Esther Isaacson Rogers and raised in St. Johns, AZ. While serving in the US Navy, he married Lila Jarvis in 1947. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in electrical engineering. He received two master’s degrees from UCLA and began work at Hughes Aircraft in CA. After 32 years in CA they moved back to AZ. He retired in 1998. He was preceded in death by his sister JoAnn Judd. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lila, and his seven daughters Jackie (Craig) Christensen, Vicki (Court) Hilton, Georgia, Debbie (Ron) VanDusen, Audrey (Vance) Thomas, Julie Patterson, and Susan (Jim) Seiferth. He also leaves 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and his brothers Yale and Ellis. Visitation is Friday Sept 2nd 6-8PM at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way in Mesa. Funeral services are Saturday Sept. 3rd at 10AM with a visitation from 9 to 9:30 AM at the LDS Harris 1st Ward, 1455 N. Harris Drive, also in Mesa. The family wishes to thank Americare Hospice for their tender care.

Alfred (Ray) Freeman, 75, passed away August 25, 2011 in Peoria, AZ. He was born May 22, 1936 in Mesa, AZ to James and Jewel Freeman. He worked for the City of Mesa as a foreman in the Utility Construction Department, retiring in 1989. He made the best BBQ brisket. He was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings James Freeman, Jr., JD Freeman, Beatrice Stephens, Louetta Freeman, Velma Freeman, Gereldine Freeman and his son Derick James Freeman. Cherishing his memory are his wife Renae Freeman, daughters Tonya and Tiffini Freeman, sons Kenny Freeman, Kendrick Russell, brother Robert Freeman and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services are Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11 AM, preceded by a visitation at 10 AM at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 1720 East Broadway Road in Mesa.

Beverly Miller, 88, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on August 23, 2011. She was a lifelong Arizona resident, born in Casa Grande March 22, 1923 to Teressa and Roland Boyce Sr. In 1951 she and her husband Jack moved to Eloy and established Miller Hardware. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Miller, granddaughter Jacqueline Miller Tapia, brothers Lawrence Hill and Roland Boyce Jr. and sister Maxine Ryan. Beverly is survived by her sister Mary Lewis of Bremerton, Washington, daughters Beverly Miller and Mary Ann Cahn and sons John Miller and Bill Miller. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Rosary and Mass will be celebrated at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church in Eloy on Friday, September 2 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations payable to the University of Arizona Foundation/Arizona Cancer Center & mail to 1515 N. John Frederick Williams

John Frederick Williams, 72 of Mesa, AZ formerly of Wellsburg, WV passed away on August 27, 2011 at his home in Mesa, AZ. John was born on January 20, 1939 in Wellsburg, WV, a son of the late John Henry Williams and Wanda Heatherington Williams. He is preceded in death by his Beloved wife Shirley Jean Williams, who preceded him by three days. Theirs was and is a love that could not be separated, even in death.

John graduated from Wellsburg High School and attended college through the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Lions Club in Wellsburg, WV and was also on the City of Wellsburg’s City Planning Committee. John was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving the Lord. He served his country in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. He is a Vietnam Veteran who served his country for over 20 yrs.

John is survived in death by his sister Suzie Knezovich of Brilliant, OH. He is also survived by his seven children: John, Don, Woody, Stephanie, Jennifer, Patricia and Stephen, as well as 17 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many, many extended family members.

Friends will be received at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 Centennial Way in Mesa, AZ on Sunday August 28 from 6 – 8 pm. Friends will also be received on Monday August 29th from 9 – 9:45 am at the LDS church Located on Stapley Dr and McKellips Rd in Mesa, AZ.

Andrew Michael Waits

Waits, Andrew Michael, 29, a native of Phoenix, went to his next duty post on August 22nd, 2011. Andrew graduated from Camelback High School and then served his country as a United States Marine. He most recently was the owner of Mulligan’s Brick Bar in Scottsdale. Like the Phoenix that he was, he will live on through the gift of organ donation. Five Arizona residents have benefitted from his generosity. Andrew is survived by his son Phoenix, parents Mike and Lorie, siblings Dustin, Rusty, and Lindsay, grandparents Harold and Phyllis, Ralph and Karen, and Mildred. A celebration of his life will be held at Biltmore Nazarene, 5604 N. 24th street, Phoenix on Thursday, September 1st at 10am. In honor of Andrew, please dress in celebratory attire. Friends and family are also invited to gather at Mulligan’s Brick Bar, 7318 E. Stetson Dr, Scottsdale at 5pm on Thursday evening. Shirley Jean Williams, 69 of Mesa, AZ formerly of Wellsburg, Wv passed away on August 23, 2011 at her home in Mesa, AZ. She was born on June 7, 1942 in Wellsburg, WV in a house on Rabbit Hill. A daughter of the late Woodrow (Woody) Miller and Evelyn (Peggy) Haught Miller she is preceded in death by her sisters Wilma Noel and Monica Cate.

Shirley graduated from Wellsburg High School and attended West Liberty State College. She was a member of the Wheeling Chapter of the DAR and a member of the Cameo Society within the DAR. Shirley was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving the Lord. She had a knack for making people feel special and making those around her feel loved no matter their station in life. She was dedicated to family and taking care of her sweet husband who has dementia.

Shirley is survived in death by her husband John Williams and her two sisters Luella Tokas and Janice Wentz. She is also survived by her seven children: John, Don, Woody, Stephanie, Jennifer, Patricia and Stephen as well as 17 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many, many extended family members.

Friends will be received at the Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 Centennial Way in Mesa, AZ on Sunday August 28 from 6 – 8 pm. Friends will also be received on Monday August 29th from 9 – 9:45 am at the LDS church Located on Stapley Dr and McKellips Rd in Mesa, AZ followed by the funeral service at 10am in the chapel of the same building. Interment will follow at the Arizona National Memorial Cemetery in Cave Creek, AZ at 12:30pm.

Brian Scott Cook was welcomed joyfully into this world, May 17,1971. He departed this life Aug. 20, 2011, not so joyfully. He was loved by his family and will be terribly missed. We will miss that sweet face, boisterous sense of humor, infectious smile and contagious laugh.
