Susan June Jemison

Susan Jemison was born July 24, 1955 in Miami, FL. She was the daughter of Russell L Troxell and June C Cumpston. She will be greatly missed by her 3 brothers Donald Burk (Carolyn), Frank Burk (Georgie), Gary Troxell (Eileen), her 5 children Angela Butler (Shane), Shawna McInelly (Kaylon), Curtis Mitchell, Stephen Mitchell, and Brandon Jemison and her 8 grandchildren. Susan grew up in Glasgow, PA where her family ran Troxell Funeral Home. She graduated in 1973 from Glendale Sr High School. She then graduated from Palm Beach Jr College with an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene. She was a licensed Dental Hygienist in Arizona. She was a member of ADHA until she became disabled in 2010. She passed away March 9, 2013 after a well fought battle with breast cancer. She will always be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies, her selfless service, and her near perfect faith. Services will be held Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10:30 AM, preceded by a visitation at 9 AM at the LDS Chapel located at 2717 E Ocotillo Rd in San Tan Valley, AZ. Her funeral is being handled by Bunker’s Garden Chapel in Mesa, AZ.

George B. Myler

George Blaine Myler passed away peacefully March 11, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Phoenix AZ, surrounded by his family. He was born to George Joseph and Rachel Bethea (Buttars) Myler in Clarkston, UT in 1924. George served his country in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was married to and sealed in the Logan LDS Temple, February 29, 1944 to Norma Bee Brown and they had 4 Children. George lived a very full and happy life for 66 years with Norma. They had many opportunities to travel throughout the world and the US with his work as a Superintendent of a large heavy construction firm. George was active in the LDS church holding many different positions of responsibility throughout the years. George lived in the Dreamland Villa area for over 30 years. He was a giving and caring man and a devoted husband, father and grandfather, loved by those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma, daughter Sherene Russell, son William George Myler, and granddaughter Barbie Bosley. He is survived by daughters, Janet Bosley (Bruce) of Queen Creek AZ, Jeannie Engel (Ray) of PA, 20 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, March 15, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way in Mesa. Funeral services are Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11 AM, preceded by a visitation at 10 AM at the LDS Vineyard Ward, 1054 W. 2nd Street, Mesa AZ. Interment at the City of Mesa Cemetery.

Jewel LeMay Leslie, 90, from Showlow, AZ, passed away March 8, 2013 in Mesa, AZ. She was born April 7, 1922 in Floydada, TX to Roger Fenton LeMay and Atoka Lee Parrish LeMay. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, James W. (Bill) Leslie; they have three daughters Diane (deceased), Cheryl (Randy) Walker, Denise (Don) Packer, 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11 AM, preceded by a visitation at 10 AM at the LDS Chapel at 940 E. Southern, Mesa. The family would like to thank Hospice of the East Valley for the wonderful care that was given to Jewel. Arrangements by Bunker’s Garden Chapel.

Anthony F. Amorosi

Anthony F. Amorosi, 87, of Sun Lakes, AZ, formerly of Cedar Grove, NJ, passed away on March 8, 2013 at home. Andy is survived by Eleanore, his beloved wife of 53 years. He was born in Jersey City, NJ and served in the United States Navy during World War II. Prior to his retirement, Andy owned an insurance agency in New Jersey. He enjoyed travelling the world with Eleanore and together they explored places as diverse as Egypt and Italy, Israel and Poland. Always remarkably youthful for his years, Andy played softball well into his seventies. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his daughter Elizabeth (Lee Johnson) of Scottsdale, AZ and his son Andrew (Jennifer) of Whitehouse Station, NJ. He was the much adored Papa to his grandson Patrick Johnson and granddaughters Gabriella and Juliana Amorosi. Andy is also survived by his brothers, John of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ and Louis of Sun Lakes, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the charity of your choice to honor the pleasure Andy received in giving. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 10:00 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5001 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ 85018. Arrangements by Bunker’s Garden Chapel.

Richard D. Sabin, 91, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away March 7, 2013 in Mesa, AZ. He was born December 15, 1921 in Gilbert, AZ. He is survived by his eternal companion of 61 years Louise Sabin (Rhoton), children, sons, Dennis (Nada), Keith (Jane), Craig (Sandy), Dale (Nancy), John, Andy (Terri), daughter Jennie (Michael) Wood, and sister Helen Lamoreaux. He enjoyed his 25 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was an army veteran of WWII. He served in the Northern States mission. He was very active with the sports program in his church. He retired from the USPS as a station manager in 1983 after 32 years of service. He and his wife served several LDS missions. A visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, March 12, from 6-8 PM at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way in Mesa, AZ. Services will be held Wednesday, March 13, at 10 AM, preceded by a visitation at 9 AM at the LDS Lazona Building, 1345 E. University, Mesa, AZ.

Ross Nash Farnsworth

Ross Nash Farnsworth Sr. passed away at his home surrounded by his family on March 2, 2013 at age 81. Ross was born on December 6, 1931 in Mesa, Arizona to Joseph and Annie Nash Farnsworth. Ross had 4 siblings who all preceded him in death: J.A. Jr., Florence, Henrietta, Alfred, and Richard. He loved growing up in small town Mesa and graduated from Mesa High School. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Arizona State University. Ross served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Central States which set the course for the rest of his life. In 1954, he married his beloved Anita Cox and they were blessed to have 12 children: Beth Coons (Chad), Ross Farnsworth Jr. (Lori), Julie Ashby (Fred), Joe Farnsworth (Sharanette), Amy Ahlstrom (Craig), Janet Turk (Terry), Bonnie Shill (Mark), Ruth Collins (Dave), Carol Tingey (Mike), Sherri Gurr (Kevan), Tom Farnsworth (Melissa), Jill Geigle (Jeremy). Ross was a land developer in the East Valley, particularly developing retirement communities such as Dreamland Villa, Sunland Village, Sunland Village East, and Sunland Springs Village. He also began several other companies in the Valley. Because of his love for Mesa and its people, Ross gave generously of his time and resources to make it better. He served on the Mesa City Council, was the founder of the La Mesita Homeless Shelter for families, worked tirelessly with United Way and the YMCA, and many other community organizations. Ross’s greatest happiness was found with his wife, 12 children, 63 grandchildren, and 67 great-grandchildren. He knew each one of them well and they all adored their Papa. Ross’s life was worn out in the service of his God, his family, and the community that he loved. A viewing will be held Friday March 8 from 6-8 PM at the Mesa North Stake Center, 933 E. Brown Rd. Funeral services are Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11 AM, preceded by a visitation from 10-10:45 AM at the Red Mountain Institute of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7126 E. McKellips Road, Mesa. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Mesa United Way, 137 E University, Mesa, AZ or the Church of Jesus Christ Missionary Fund at 15 E. Hal Alton Cluff, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away March 3, 2013 in Gilbert, AZ. Hal was born September 9, 1935, in Bluewater, NM to Harold Cluff and Ora Hakes. Born the oldest of nine children, Hal was brother to Eddie, Sharon, Tommie, Linda, Helen, Beverly, Jean and Billie K. He is survived by his eternal companion, Judy (Harris), sons Harold (Terra) and Tad (Karen) daughter Kristil (Doug) Corbin and grandchildren, Hunter, Cameron, Kirsten, Courtney, Duncan and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Eddie and sister Helen. Hal was a biology teacher at Mesa High School for 30 years. A visit with the family will be held Friday, March 8, from 6–7:30 PM at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N Centennial Way in Mesa and from 9-10 AM on Saturday, March 9th at the Dana Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2334 E. Pueblo Ave., Mesa. Funeral services will follow at 10 AM.

Steven Elmer Hall

Steven Elmer Hall passed away at his home in Gilbert, AZ on February 26, 2013. He was born in Downey, ID on November 9, 1950 to Dee and Wilma Harrison Hall. Steve attended Mesa Jr. High and graduated from Mesa High in 1968, where he excelled in sports and was MHS’s quarterback his senior year. He also made All-State in football and basketball. Steve went on to attend MCC where he was a nationally ranked punter. He set passing and punting records in the Shrine Bowl. He received scholarships to Tulsa OK and Utah State and attended both universities. He married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Moore, on November 26, 1971. They settled in Mesa, AZ where Steve was a partner in Trojan Concrete for many years. He is a member of the LDS church. He has served in many positions in the church, and was a member of two ward bishoprics. He is survived by his wife, Pamela, and 5 children; Justin, Jaime, Cami, Amanda and Brookelyn, as well as ten grandchildren. His siblings are Sherry Fletcher, Sandy Bigelow, Jerry Hall, and Debbie Bromley. Steve has a very generous heart and loved his wife and family dearly. He will be greatly missed. We love you Papa!

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Kuniye; daughter, Mary Ann; parents Toyokichi and Yone; sisters Tsuyako Tanaka and Reiko Fujii; and brothers Masataka and Chikayoshi. He is survived by daughters, Nancy (Brian), Jeannie (Monte), and Stephanie (Randal); son, Glenn; and grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Christina, and Kevin. He also leaves his sisters, Ayako Tomooka and Lillie Miyagishima; brother, Fred; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 5 to 8:00 p.m., Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ. Services will be held on March 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., also at Bunker’s Garden Chapel. Charles S. Adair, dearly loved husband, father and grandfather, passed away February 22, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 10, 1915, in Luna, New Mexico. Charles was a life-long active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man he filled a mission for the church in the Eastern States. He served in many positions, but his greatest passion was genealogy. He married Pearl Reidhead March 13, 1942 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. It was soon after that Pearl Harbor was bombed. Charley served over four years in the Air Force during World War II. He was an educator and owned and operated Adair Tax Service for over 50 years. His greatest joy was his sweetheart of over 70 years, Pearl; his children Yvonne (Arthur Molina (deceased), Charles (Jennifer Smith), Carla (Mark NeVille), Kathleen (Richard Romney), Douglas (Karen Louden), Dawna (Lonnie Stradling), Robert (Bethany Stewart), 38 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2013 from 6-8 PM at the LDS Kleinman Park Ward, 616 S. Extension in Mesa. Funeral services are Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11 AM, preceded by a visitation at 10 AM at the same location. Arrangements by Bunker’s Garden Chapel.

Gwendolyn Ann Rowley

Gwendolyn Ann Rowley, passed away on February 21, at the home of her grandson. Gwen was born December 27, 1933 to Ila Myrle Jones and DeWitt Mincey in Bartow, FL. She was later adopted by her stepfather, Richard Dubian. She moved to Arizona when she was 9 and continued her schooling, graduating from Mesa High. She married Duane Rowley on January 25, 1951. She carried on her education at MCC and then went ASU to earn her BA and MA in education while raising 5 children and a husband. She taught English at MCC for over 15 years before retiring to enjoy time with Duane at their home in Christopher Creek. Gwen was very active in the LDS church. She had many callings including teacher and president of several auxiliaries. Gwen is survived by her children: Kim and Carol, Mike and Shauna, Kevin and Connie, Leanne, Lisa, 18 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Gwen lived a wonderful life of love and service to all who knew her. The visitation will be at the LDS Solomon Ward, 997 E Broadway from 6 – 8 pm on Friday, March 1st. Services will be Saturday, March 2nd at 10 am with a viewing one hour prior, also at the Solomon building. Arrangements by Bunker’s Garden Chapel.
