Our talented, artistic, spunky, always showing love for everyone, health nut, and faithful mother, Daisy Emeline Bigelow Norton passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, in Gilbert, Arizona at the age of 97.
Daisy was born in Jerome, Arizona on July 16, 1925, to Parley LeRoy Bigelow and Esther Grace Ray. She was the fifth of twelve children and grew up in the Verde Valley, Cottonwood, Mesa, and Eagar areas.
At the age of 16 Daisy met and fell in love with Silas Elbert Norton and they were married on March 24, 1942, in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They lived in Fort Huachuca while he worked for the Army until he was drafted to fight overseas in WWII. During this time Daisy had two sons, Silas Parley Norton and Rush Bigelow Norton. At the age of 19 Daisy was left a widow when Silas was killed in France on January 15, 1945. Through much trial and heartache, she learned to endure and enjoy life, happy with the simple things.
On September 12, 1952, Daisy married Lawrence Norton who was Silas’s uncle. He was a widower with three daughters, Theresa, Mary and Yvonne. Combining their family of five was an adventure for sure and they added to the fun by adopting three more children; Steven, Jamie and Joye. They lived in Eagar until 1976 when they moved to Mesa, Az.
Daisy loved to draw and was an exceptional artist in many media: including oil, water, pastel painting, china painting, sculpting, and doll making. Her family and friends have been honored to own her various works as she was very giving with her talents.
Daisy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings throughout her life. In her later years she enjoyed indexing, doing temple work, and family history.
In Eagar, she taught Kindergarten and 8th Grade Art. After she moved to Mesa Daisy worked for Loveall Plumbing as a secretary and as a caregiver for elderly people. It was during this time at age 54, she “got busy” and took her GED test and received her certificate of graduation. Later on, she worked for her nephew Lynn Bigelow painting animals that she sculpted, and he cast.
After Lawrence passed, Daisy continued with her art until she was past 95 years old. She loved to read, do word search puzzles, read, crochet “cuddle blankets” for her friends and family, and did we mention she liked to read! Many times, she would read far into the night. But most importantly she loved her family and her friends. Spending time with them was her delight as well as theirs.
Daisy is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Silas Norton and Lawrence Norton, her brothers Edwin, Gilbert, Lynn, Simeon, Vernon, Wade and Larry her sisters Violet, Iris, and Calla Lilly. Also, her son Silas Parley Norton, daughters Theresa Goin and Yvonne Bigelow.
She is survived by her children Rush (Nancy) Norton, Mary Jepson, Steven Norton, Joye Norton (Larry Velasquez) all of Mesa, James (Sheri) Norton of San Tan Valley and one brother, Delmar (Sabina) Bigelow of Sandy, Utah. Her posterity includes 8 children, 36 grandchildren, 129 Great grandchildren, 99 great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great grandchild.
Daisy’s funeral will be held on March 31, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 3920 E. Brown Road in Mesa. Interment will be held at the Eagar, Arizona Cemetery Saturday April 1, 2023 at 11 a.m.

Husband, father and retired elementary school teacher, Michael D. Alldredge returned to the presence of his loving father in Heaven on the morning of March 21, 2023 at the age of 70 at Friendship Village Inpatient Care Home, Hospice of the Valley in Tempe, Arizona.
Mike was born on November 02, 1952 and was the first of four children to parents David Evans Alldredge and Marlene Hamblin in Mesa, Arizona. Mike was raised in the heart of Mesa and graduated from McClintock High School in 1971. Mike grew up and was a very devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had a very personal and deep relationship with his Savior, Jesus Christ and he loved in his spare time studying and writing notes about the gospel and scriptures. His family would often comment and joke about the length and depth of Mike’s family prayers, but each and every prayer that Mike gave was heartfelt and personal to him. Mike served a two year mission for the church in the Texas North mission based in Dallas. Mike loved his mission- he loved teaching and sharing the knowledge he had of the gospel.
After serving his mission, Mike lived the bachelor life for several years playing sports (baseball and football), spending time and making life-long memories with family and friends. He finally made the decision that he needed to find a companion and was introduced to his church home teaching companion’s sister, Tana Nielson. Mike and Tana were married on December 09, 1989 and were blessed with 2 daughters, Alicia and Amy.
Mike worked in the construction field, plastering pools for years until he made the decision to go to college to complete a degree. Mike earned his education degree at ASU in May of 1996 and completed his Masters at NAU in December of 2002. Mike began his teaching career teaching junior high on the Indian reservation in Sacaton, Arizona. He loved the students and staff he worked with in Sacaton and often spoke of the love he had for the people there. Mike began teaching in the Gilbert, Arizona school district in 2001 teaching 6th grade and that is where he remained for the entirety of his career. Mike was the best version of himself in the classroom and was a very devoted teacher. On one occasion that his daughters often reminded him about, Mike’s two daughters went to his classroom on his birthday during the school day to take donuts to his class. When they walked into the classroom, Mike grabbed a chair, stood on top of it and led his class in singing while he also belted out the happy birthday song to himself. This was a side of their dad his daughters had not seen before and did not let him forget.
Not many people knew because it wasn’t something that Mike shared other than at home or on certain occasions, but he had an incredible singing voice and loved to aggravate his daughters first thing in the morning with his loud, cheerful singing. The things that Mike’s closest family and friends love and remember most about Mike are his homemade bean burritos, biscuits & gravy, and his love and passion for discussing politics and religion, his jeep rides, his gardening, his love and knowledge of proper gun handling, and his love of movies and food.
Mike was preceded in death by his beloved Grandma Thora, whom he often spoke of and deeply loved, and was also preceded by both his parents. Mike is survived by his wife- Tana, his two daughters- Alicia and Amy, his son-in-law- Jourdan, his three grandchildren- Lily, Parker and Dawson, and his three younger siblings- Dennis, Leigh ann, and Leslie.
Mike’s memorial service visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints located at 1345 E University Dr. in Mesa, Az 85203 and will be followed by a funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM. Mike will then be placed to rest at the City of Mesa Cemetery following the funeral service.
Special thanks to the nurses and caretakers at Friendship Village Inpatient Care Home for taking special care of Mike, and his wife, and making Mike’s final moments in this life a peaceful and spiritual experience.

She earned a bachelors and masters degree from Arizona State University. She joined the police force in her early 20s and quickly rose through the ranks to become the first female chief of police in the City of Mesa’s history. Her commitment to public safety and her unwavering dedication to her colleagues earned her the respect and admiration of all who worked with her. Jan’s contributions to law enforcement were numerous and significant. She was a strong advocate for community policing and worked tirelessly to build bridges between law enforcement and the communities they served. Despite her busy career, she served faithfully in her church callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She also served a church mission in the Arizona service mission.
Jan always made time for her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who cherished spending time with her loved ones. If you ask any of her grandchildren who her favorite grandchild is, they will each be certain when they answer, “me”! She spent her evenings and weekends attending as many of their events, games, and concerts as time would allow. She spent every Sunday preparing elaborate meals for her family, always making extra so there were leftovers. Sunday evenings at Grandma’s house were a cherished time, where cousins became best friends.
We take comfort in knowing she lived a full and meaningful life, dedicated to all she held dear. Her legacy will continue to inspire and motivate all who knew her and her memory will be cherished forever. We know heaven is real and cannot wait to be together again someday. Brenda Margaret Casey, 82, passed away on January 29, 2023 in Chandler, Arizona after a courageous, 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at 10:30 a.m. on March 18, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1520 South Catalina Street, Gilbert, Arizona 85233. The service will be live streamed for those who cannot attend in person.
You may follow this link to view the live stream: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/85154787434?pwd=RHNGU1BMWHVNY1NpWHRLd3NqRUxpUT09
Brenda was born at her parents’ home, on March 22, 1940, in Errol, New Hampshire. She enjoyed her childhood and felt blessed to have such a loving family. Brenda considered herself a “daddy’s girl” and enjoyed having both sets of grandparents and lots of uncles, aunts and cousins nearby.
As a teenager, Brenda left home to attend high school at Fryeburg Academy in Fryeburg, Maine. Her parents’ decision to send her to boarding school had a significant impact on her life. She loved her years at Fryeburg and when she wasn’t studying, she played basketball, enjoyed skiing and made great friends. She graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1958 but not before meeting the love of her life, Ernest Casey, while on a senior-year, spring break vacation to South Carolina to visit her sister. Ernest was in the Air Force, stationed in South Carolina, when they began flirting one night at a hamburger stand. It was love at first sight. After a whirlwind romance, Brenda and Ernest were married in Monck’s Corner, South Carolina, just two months after her graduation.
Over the span of the next 18 years, Brenda and Ernest had seven children, all of whom have survived them: Lynette Burdick of St. Johns; Les (Lori) of Santa Clara, Utah; Kelly (Sandy) of St. George, Utah; Kristina Kingsmore (John) of Gilbert; Katherine (Steven Meyers) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Aaron (Alita) of Show Low; and Brenda (James Brown) of Sequoia National Park, California. Brenda was very proud of her kids but nothing made her happier than being “Nana” to her 22 living grandchildren, their spouses and her 32 great-grandchildren. Brenda loved her family and took great joy in knowing her posterity would continue to grow long after her time on earth was over.
Brenda worked for many years as an orthotic fitter. She truly loved working and the sense of achievement and fulfillment it brought. She had a strong work ethic and was known for the genuine, caring service she provided to her clients. She often went above and beyond to help them during their time of need. Her children witnessed this same theme at home. Even though money was often tight, the kids’ friends were always welcome at the dinner table and, over the years, she opened her home to others – whether family, friends or her kids’ friends – who needed a place to stay while they sorted life out. She never turned anyone away.
Brenda was known for her biscuits and gravy breakfasts and scrumptious taco dinners. She was thrilled when her kids came home for the holidays, was always up for a road trip, cheated at every game she ever played regardless of how young her opponent was (child or grandchild), and was always a morning person, often too energetic and chipper for her teenaged night owls! She had a wicked sense of humor and a quick wit. She loved to read, loved to travel, and loved to sing. She participated in the church choir, was never shy at karaoke, and especially enjoyed Kenny Rogers and Ann Murray. Even as dementia claimed her brain, she would instantly connect with you if you sang to her.
Brenda and Ernest lived various places throughout their marriage, including Utah, Hawaii, Nevada, California, and in the cities of Mesa, Gilbert and St. Johns, all in Arizona. She was fearless and faced each move head on. Ernest died unexpectedly in 2004 and Brenda rolled up her sleeves and faced it courageously. In 2007 she decided to serve a mission for her church. She spent the next two years serving in the Preston England Mission. This experience bolstered her strength, confidence, and sense of independence which she later called upon regularly after receiving her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. She tried to live each day as fully and independently as was possible.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law Brian Burdick, an infant grandson, parents Leslie and Margaret (Lane) Hawkins, sister Nancy Bennett, brother Gordon Hawkins, who died in infancy, and brother-in-law, Rex Bennett. In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Brenda is survived by Nancy’s children, David, Elise, Vicki, Daniel and Tracy, and many of her beloved Hawkins, Lane, and Casey extended family members.
Brenda’s children would like to thank the staff at Avenir Chandler Memory Center and Sage Hospice for the care, support, and comfort they have provided. They would also like to thank the staff at Bunker Family Funerals who handled Brenda’s cremation with dignity and respect. Later this year, the family will take Brenda and Ernest’s ashes home to Errol, New Hampshire for interment.

He especially loved drinking with his friends while boating on Saguaro Lake, where he would always be sure to pull a face at the most unexpected time just to make everyone laugh.
Dan is survived by his father, mother, and sister, and he will be deeply missed. He had a kind heart and infectious sense of humor that endeared him to everyone who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, loyalty, and joy.
