Choose Services

Visitation

A visitation, often called a viewing, is an opportunity to interact with friends and family usually with the casket and deceased loved one present. This can be done at one of our beautiful facilities, or at another location of your choice. In the case of cremation, a cremation casket can be purchased, or a casket with a special insert can be rented from the funeral home. Though a number of people choose to have this open to the public, you are certainly permitted to invite only close friends and family. A visitation is usually held the night prior and/or just prior to the funeral service.

Funeral Service

A Funeral Service is the opportunity for family and friends to get together in a more formal setting and celebrate the life of the lost loved one through written speeches, song, and shared memories. With that said, we encourage families to commemorate their loved one’s life in the way they see most appropriate. A funeral usually takes place in one of our funeral chapels, or an offsite church building. The word funeral implies that the body is present.

Memorial Service

A memorial service is just like a funeral service, except the body of the deceased person either isn’t present, or is present after the cremation has taken place. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with close friends and family to share memories and offer support for one another. Like a funeral, this is usually done in one of our facilities or a local church building of your choice.

Witness Cremation

Some families find peace in being present for the cremation of their loved one. Others choose to do so because it’s an important part of their religion or culture. Having our on-site crematory allows your family the opportunity to be present when your loved one is cremated should you choose to.

Sunset Lantern Release

Not all families want a formal gathering to honor their loved one. On the pond at our beautiful grounds at Gilbert Memorial Park we offer a beautiful Sunset Water Lantern Release package. This allows family and friends to gather in a non-formal setting, write messages of love or hope on a lantern, and release those lanterns together on the beautiful pond.

Catered Reception

Food is a central part of many celebrations. Our Gilbert Memorial Park location offers a beautiful Reception Center where families can gather for a catered meal, share memories, support one another, and honor the life of the loved one they’ve lost.

Planning Guide

Choose a Method of Disposition

Burial

Burial has long been the most popular method of disposition in the United States. Those who choose burial will also need to choose a cemetery where their loved one will be placed at rest. Each cemetery may have their own rules and regulations that they require. When choosing burial the purchase of a casket and outer burial container will likely be necessary.

Cremation

Cremation has grown dramatically in the last several years. In Arizona, nearly three-fourths of people now choose cremation as their disposition preference. Cremation allows families the options of bringing the cremated remains home, scattering them at a place of significance, splitting them between family members, or having them placed at a cemetery. All services you can have with a burial you can also have with cremation
