About Ethelyn Johnson Madsen
Ethelyn Johnson Madsen passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 in Mesa, AZ. She was born November 10, 1917 in El Paso, TX, the oldest of thirteen children born to William Percy and Ethelyn Haws Johnson. She was raised in Phoenix, AZ, graduating from Phoenix Union High School. Ethelyn married Spencer Duane Madsen Nov. 1, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Spencer and Ethelyn had five children. They made their home in Mesa, AZ after Spencer’s retirement as an LDS chaplain in the US Army. Ethelyn was active in the Mesa Museum Guild and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She earned a “Healthy Aging Award
