Why Choose Bunker

History

The start of our 100+ year history

1913

Our mission of excellence began in 1913, when M.L. “Cardinal” Gibbons established Gibbons Mortuary. Since then, what has come to be known as Bunker Family Funerals & Cremation has been helping Arizona families pay tribute to their lost loved ones.

From Gibbons to Bunker

1964

A new era began in 1964, when the funeral home was purchased by Bryan L. Bunker, B. Allen Bunker, and other investors. The Bunkers brought vast industry experience with them, having run a successful operation in Las Vegas. In 1976, B. Allen Bunker, along with his son Randy Bunker, purchased the entire stock of the organization. Gibbons Mortuary became Gibbons-Bunker Mortuaries, and in 1984, the Gibbons name was retired.

Big shoes To fill

1989

Randy purchased the entire organization when his father retired in 1989. To this day, Randy stands committed to providing caring and meaningful service to all families who call on Bunker, regardless of budget or traditions.

By providing quality facilities and services at convenient locations, Bunker Family Funerals & Cremation makes it as simple as possible for grieving families to honor their loved ones. More than a hundred years since our founding, we remain dedicated to providing distinctive service.

A Legacy Worth Continuing

2017

Bryce Bunker, Randy’s youngest son, joined the family business in 2013, determined to carry on his father’s legacy of creating positive impact in the lives of those he served. Bryce purchased the business from Randy in 2017, ensuring that the business would remain family owned for years to come

Our Mission

We serve with sensitivity and professionalism, paying close attention to each family’s needs throughout the grieving process.

We bring generations of experience and expertise to each and every service, and work to educate families on all of the options available to them, bringing clarity and assurance to an otherwise difficult time.

Nothing Comes Between Bunker And Family

Across the United States, many family-owned funeral homes and cemeteries are being acquired by large corporations—conglomerates that prioritize profit and shareholder value over true compassionate care.

At Bunker, we believe that family should always be at the heart of a loved one’s final arrangements. That’s why Bunker remains family-owned and operated, committed to offering the level of personalized care that we believe is essential during the grieving process.

Let Us Help

The Bunker service model is simple: quality facilities; comprehensive services; convenient locations; and a knowledgeable team. And at the heart of it all—a deeply held belief that every life should be honored with warmth, distinction, and dignity.

When you contact Bunker, you become part of our family. Our sterling reputation has been proven every day since 1913, and we look forward to upholding it for years to come.
